Station was named for Lt. Whitlock of the United States Navy who served in Antarctica.

Station Repair History

10 February 2005 - New antenna and cable were installed, but the station is still not working

5 February 2005 - The electronics enclosure was replaced, but the station is still not working

18 January 2005 - Site visited. Station was not working, so power was reconnected but didn't achieve a working signal. Will visit again

Whitlock was formerly known as Franklin Island.
