Matthew,
I hope you have been able to use the weather information I have been sending. We have had our share of problems trying to get this information out to you.
The satellite connections are not what Iridium said they would be. We were scheduled to breakdown the base camp today at 1200UTC, but the winds are too high for the helicopter to fly.
We are told by NOAA that a bad weather system is due on Tuesday but here one never knows. We were visited by the foks from the Polarstern yesterday. They are scheduled to
install their WX station on Sunday the 19th. It does not look like we will be able to get off the island today so I will continue to send Wx reports until I close down the equipment. I will probably
not be aable to give any notice, so when the reports stop I will be off the Island.
Cheers,
J. Robert Russell
