The data was originally collected elsewhere, under the leadership of Steven Mendes and Jack Doolittle and permission has been given to us by Antarctic Support Associates to freely redistribute this meteorological data. This data is in the same format as our regular ten-minute data, though the way this data was put together differs. At its peak, the data was received every minute; thus this data, as available, is an average of five minutes either way around the ten-minute interval marker. Wind speed and direction were broken up into vectors and an "average" wind was then recalculated; the others are straight averages. Like all data, there will be gaps in what is available. Specifically, the times from which averages were created are as follows: time range ten minute (min) time (min) 56-05 00 06-15 10 16-25 20 26-35 30 36-45 40 46-55 50 A brief list of stations and their locations: AGO-1 20655 83.86 S 129.61 E 2,865 m AGO-2 08073 85.67 S 46.38 W 1,860 m AGO-3 20654 82.76 S 28.58 E 2,912 m AGO-4 08864 82.01 S 96.76 E 3,565 m AGO-5 26620 77.23 S 123.50 E 3,084 m AGO-6 26621 69.51 S 130.01 E 2,560 m Like our "standard" ten minute data, this data is "uncorrected." A passive effort has been made to remove obnoxious extremes of data as they occur, though subtle errors may still exist. More refinements of this data are possible as use of it takes place. If you're unfamiliar with the format or file name construction of our "standard" ten minute data, please download the readme files in pub/aws/10min/rdr and familiarize yourself before making use of the ten minute average data herein.
