########################################################################### # Notice on the use of Antarctic Meteorological Research Center data sets # ########################################################################### # The Antarctic Meteorological Research Center (AMRC) collects, archives # # and provides Antarctic meteorological observational data to the # # community and public for research, logistic, and educational activities.# # The AMRC requests acknowledgement for use of the data in any published # # work. See http://amrc.ssec.wisc.edu/acknowledgement.html for details on # # how to acknowledge AMRC data, displays or information. # # If the AMRC data are critical to the work, co-authorship may be # # appropriate. The second line has variable name. If it has “res” or “avg” in the variable name it is an average value. 10 second observations with an average made at 10 minutes. The instantaneous values are from the timestamp value. The time stamps from the Freewave stations should be pretty good. They are updated from the base station (when we can get a connection) if there is more than 10 second discrepancy. The third line has the units. Units are missing for T_HMP (it should be degC) Timestamp - UTC Record: record number (usually not very useful) TavgUpper- upper air temp averaged over 10 min T_RTD - instantaneous temp reading @ timestamp TavgLower- lower air temp (or snow temp) averaged over 10 min T_RTDLower- instantaneous temp reading @timestamp presRead - add 600 to get the station pressure T_HMP- temperature from the humidity probe U_HMP- RH wspd_avg - average of wind speed over the 10 minutes (10 second observations) wspd_res - vector average wind speed (over 10 minutes) wdir_res - vector average wind direction wdir_std - STD of the wind direction over the 10 minutes maxws - maximum wind speed over the 10 minutes wdirMaxWspd - direction of the maximum wind speed TPanelAvg - average temp of the enclosure solarAvg - avg solar from pyranometer (Wm-2) wspdRead - instantaneous wind speed reading wdirRead - instantaneous wind direction reading T_panel - instantaneous enclosure temp RawDist - distance from the ADG SignalQuality - QC for ADG (0: not able to read distance; 152-210: good measurement; 210-300: reduced echo signal strength; 300-600: high measurement uncertainty) Dist - distance adjusted with air temperature battVolt - battery voltage Pres_us - pressure signal output from the Paroscientific if used Temp_us- temperature signal output from Paroscientific if used
