Stearns, L.M. Keller, G.A. Weidner, and M. Sievers. The files with the extension ".SUM" contain the monthly mean data for the U.S. Antarctic automatic weather stations starting in 1980-1989. The files are in the following format: The first line of each year contains the name of the station, the latitude, longitude, elevation, and year -- A80 format The data are arranged as follows: Month, Mean Air Temperature (C), Percent of Temperature Data Missing, Maximum Air Temperature (C), Minimum Air Temperature (C), Mean Wind Speed (m/s), Percent of Wind Data Missing, Resultant Wind Direction and Speed, Constancy, Maximum Wind Direction and Speed, Mean Air Pressure (mb), Percent of Pressure Data Missing, Maximum Air Pressure, Minimum Air Pressure. Format: A4, F8.1, I4, F7.1, F9.1, F8.1, I4, I6, F5.1, F7.2, I8, I3, F11.1, I4, F8.1, F10.1 Each year has twelve months and a thirteenth line indicating the yearly mean values, same format. Missing values for temperature are 999.9, for percent data missing are 99, for mean wind speed and resultant wind speed are 99.9, for wind direction are 999, for constancy are 9.99, for maximum wind speed are 99, for air pressure 9999.9.
