Good day, A low pressure system in the Ross Sea is currently transporting an abundant amount of moisture on to the Ross Ice Shelf will generate cloud cover over much of the Shelf. CIR will remain cloudy for the next couple days but should largely be out of the winds associated with the system for now. Periodic light snow can be expected throughout the forecast period. Thursday: Mostly cloudy to overcast skies will persist with ceilings as low as 600ft. Flurries to very light snow fall can be expected periodically with visibilities 1-3 miles. Winds will be light and variable. Friday: Mostly cloudy to overcast skies will persist with ceilings as low as 500ft. Once again, flurries to light snow fall can be expected with visibilities 1-3 miles. Winds will be light and variable. Saturday: Overcast skies with ceilings down to 200ft. Heavier snow fall starting in the evening hours and periods of fog with visibilities 1-3 miles. Light winds to start the day, but will start picking up after noon from the grid south 10-15kts. This increase in wind speeds and fresh snowfall could result in drifting snow and/or blowing snow with visibilities 0-2 miles and surface based clouds.
