Greetings, A receding trough associated the low-pressure system over the Marie Byrd Land coast affects most of the Ross Ice Shelf drawing significant low-level moisture and cloud cover. CIR will remain cloudy through the forecast. Winds will remain light with the exception of Saturday afternoon through evening. Periodic light snow is expected becoming heavy late in the forecast period. Friday: Mostly cloudy to overcast skies will persist with ceilings as low as 500ft. Snow flurries can be expected with visibilities 2-4 miles in light fog. Winds will be southerly at 8-10 knots. Saturday: Overcast skies will persist with ceilings as low as 300ft. Light to moderate snow fall can be expected with visibilities 1-3 miles as winds will be light and variable to start the day. A northerly afternoon wind will be increasing to 10-15 knots further decreasing visibility to 0-2 in blowing snow. Sunday: Overcast skies with ceilings down to 200ft. Light snow becomes Heavy by mid-day and combined with fog will keep visibility at 0-1 miles. North-northeasterly winds at 5-10 knots will shift throughout the day to the south.
