Greetings, A weakening low pressure system gradient will linger over most of the Ross Sea and Ross Ice Shelf area. Once it decays, there will be a lack of a significant pressure gradient across the Ross Ice Shelf for the next couple of days, creating conditions for lower clouds and fog to idle on the shelf. Friday: Expect mostly clear skies becoming cloudy skies with low ceilings in the afternoon. The visibility will likely decline to 2-4 miles in mist in the late morning. Winds will be 5-10 knots from the SE. Saturday: A low cloud base lingers on the ice shelf. Visibility will likely be between 1-3 miles in fog. Skies will be mostly overcast with brief periods of scattered. Winds will be light and variable. Sunday: Expect low ceilings to be present for most of the day. Visibility will likely be from 1-3 miles in fog and light snow, occasionally dropping below 1 mile. Winds will be 8-12 knots from the SE. Wishing you all a Happy New Year! Jenna Palmer
