Greetings, The low pressure system on the Ross Ice Shelf is still in the process of deteriorating. Once the low pressure system is gone, a pool of lower clouds will reestablish control over the Ross Ice Shelf. The low pressure system on the shelf is currently weakened, but there is enough flow to keep the shelf momentarily clear at the lower levels. Saturday: Mostly clear skies are anticipated for the day. Late evening/overnight we should begin to see low clouds forming and moving in from the Siple Coast. Visibility should remain unrestricted for the day while fog begins to form overnight. Winds will be SE at 5-10 knots. Sunday: Mostly cloudy skies with low ceilings are expected to persist. Once the ceilings move in, they are unlikely to clear for a few days. At this time, the visibility should be unrestricted in the morning with fog forming in the afternoon, restricting visibility between 1-3 miles. Occasional light snow will occur in the afternoon and into the evening. Winds are expected to be 5-10 knots from the SE. Monday: Another day of low overcast skies is anticipated. We should see the visibility linger between 1-3 miles due to light snow and fog. Winds are expected to be light and variable. Thank you, Jenna Palmer
