Greetings, Crary Ice Rise is currently still mostly under the influence of high pressure over the western half of the shelf. The flow in the lower levels of the atmosphere is still very weak and will be for the next couple of days. Later a weak low pressure circulation will form off the coast of Victoria land and progress southwards towards Ross Island while the low along the Siple Coast decays as it moves inland, though this may cause some possible clearing on parts of the shelf. Tuesday: Overcast skies with low ceilings will be present in the morning and most of the afternoon. The ceiling will begin to dry and scatter in the evening. Visibility will be between ½ -2 miles in the morning due to fog, increasing to unrestricted in the evening as the winds cause some drying on the shelf. Winds will be S-SW at 5-10kts during the day climbing up to 10-15 gusting 20kts in the evening. Wednesday: The sky cover will likely be scattered with patches of cloud moving across the shelf due to the low pressure system in the east. Visibility will be unrestricted with drifting snow. Winds will be 10-15kts gusting 20kts. Thursday: Skies will be mostly clear in the morning. As winds die down and the low retracts to the east, the ice shelf will be more prone to fog formation again. Low cloud ceilings will roll in in the late afternoon/evening. Visibility will be unrestricted in the early morning and decline to 2-4 miles in fog. Winds will be SW at 5-10 knots. Thank you, Jenna Palmer
