Greetings, A small low pressure system over Marie Byrd Land breaks free from the larger system in the Bellingshausen Sea, moving southwards along the edge of the Siple Coast only to dissipate at the edge of the shelf. Another low pressure system develops over Cape Adare as the high pressure ridge retracts further to the north. A weak upper low pressure system develops near Siple Dome and will help bring clouds over Crary Ice Rise. Friday: Lower clouds moving eastwards from Marie Byrd Land will temporarily remain over Crary Ice Rise for the morning into midafternoon. In the early afternoon, the height of the cloud layer should begin to lift, but it will remain mostly cloudy. Visibility will be 2-4 miles due to mist in the morning improving to unrestricted by the afternoon. Winds will be S-SW beginning to turn W at 10-15kt. Saturday: Skies will be mostly cloudy and visibility will be unrestricted. Winds will be SW at 5-10 kts. Sunday: Low cloud ceilings will begin to emerge as weak high pressure begins to control the flow over the ice shelf. Expect overcast conditions with very low ceilings beginning overnight and remaining for the day. Visibility will drop to 1-3 miles due to fog and light snow. Winds will be W-NW light and variable.
