Attached Have adjusted threshold to this product to allow a “yellow” designation for temperature outlook. This category has been applied to those periods when surface temperatures -40 to -44 are expected at Phoenix Airfield – a significant portion of the coming days. In general the slightly below normal temperatures will persist, but the passage of a few low pressure centers will help warm things just a bit. Uncertainty through this period stems from how near those lows approach Ross Island; closer passes than expected will result in even warmer temperatures, but at a cost of longer periods of reduced visibility in blowing snow. More distant passes will bring the opposite. Not optimum, but for one reason or another “optimum” weather is rare this time of year, and in that regard, at least, this is a typical year. Bob Michael
