Good morning, Please see attached. A series of progressively stronger areas of low pressure transit the area through the forecast period. A dry surface trough moves through today causing periods of strong winds and blowing snow. A Ross Sea low causes a low circulation to move in from the southern ice shelf by late Saturday to early Monday with strong winds and moderate levels of moisture including snow and blowing snow. On Tuesday, indications are for strong northerly winds on the east side of a Ross Sea low causing intensification, heavy levels of moisture, and strong southerly winds across Ross Island. It is still too early to reliably predict strength of low-pressure systems on 17th and 19th , but as of today the potential is there for sustained “Herbie” like conditions on both days.
