MaudNESS Radiosonde Collection Josh Spillane Memorial Rawinsonde Data Set "In memory of Josh Spillane" The dataset includes all 80 of the soundings from the cruise, including one (the first) in port. The filenames are in YYMMDDHH.CAP format (Universal Time). Once unzipped, these are standard ASCII format. There is a header with location, start time (UT), column parameter and unit labels and some other stuff. Most of the headers have a "Signal Strength too low" warning; ignore this, the signal was fine. Missing data are indicated by slashes "//". We had trouble with the winds at first until we figured out the ship radar was messing them up and had them turn it off during soundings. These are the raw data files. They are quite clean, but there might be some bad data points, particularly the winds. We do not guarantee accuracy. If downloading the data between April 19, 2006 and April 19, 2008, please contact Peter Guest to inform him of doing so (PeteG@nps.edu) as well as the AMRC (amrc@ssec.wisc.edu) After April 19, 2008 please voluntarily do so.
