Knuth March 02, 2005 The one minute data is reporting solar data from an instrument that the South Pole Meteorology Office doesn’t use for anything other than archiving sunshine measurements. The solar data that is reported on the F6, *.lcd, and *.mgr files comes from the sun cards that are fitted into the globes up on the South Pole Met. Office roof top. The information that is gathered from the cards is strictly the amount of sunshine hours and the percent possible of that day. The South Pole Met. Office checks the instrument for frost anytime they go out to the instruments, but that is not at a regular interval. There is no official recording of when the instrument is leveled (which only happens when the tower is leveled). -Clint Perrone --Updated T. Norton December 14, 2020
