South Pole breaks records!!

The week of November 6 - November 12, 2010 was a record-breaking week for South Pole Station. The ten records that were broken are listed below:

November 7: The peak wind gust of 38 knots/44 mph broke the previous record of 27 knots/31 mph in 2003.
November 8: The peak wind gust of 33 knots/38 mph broke the previous record of 32 knots/37 mph in 2000.
November 8: The maximum temperature of -22.7°C/-8.9°F broke the previous record of -30.8°C/-23.4°F in 2001.
November 8: The highest average wind speed of 22 knots/25 mph broke the previous record of 21 knots/24 mph in 1980.
November 9: The maximum temperature of -22.5°C/-8.5°F broke the previous record of -31.7°C/-25.1°F in 1982.
November 9: The highest average wind speed of 22 knots/25 mph broke the previous record of 21 knots/24 mph in 1982.
November 10: The maximum temperature of -28.0°C/-18.4°F broke the previous record of -29.3°C/-20.7°F in 1982.
