The 3rd Antarctic Meteorological Observations, Modeling, & Forecasting Workshop

New

Welcome to the website of the 3rd Antarctic Meteorological Observation, Modeling, and Forecasting Workshop! The AMOMFW 2008 meeting will be held at the University of Wisconsin's Pyle Center on the shores of Lake Mendota in Madison. This workshop is organized annually by members of the AMOMWF Planning Committee across the globe. The 2007 meeting was held in Rome, Italy, and the 2006 meeting in Boulder, Colorado. Prior to the 2006 meeting, the conference had a different name — the AWS-AMRC-AMPS Meeting. After the 2005 meeting in Columbus, Ohio, it was decided to re-organize and re-name the meeting to better encompass all groups attending the meetings.

This workshop brings together those with research and operational/logistical interests in Antarctic meteorology and forecasting and related disciplines. As in the past, the annual activities and status of the AMRC, AWS, and AMPS efforts will be addressed, and feedback and results from their user communities will be solicited. More broadly, this workshop also is a forum for current results and ideas in Antarctic meteorology, numerical weather prediction, and weather forecasting, from contributors around the world. There will be discussions on the relationships among international efforts and Antarctic forecasting, logistical support, and science. We welcome papers and posters on these topics. In addition, this meeting will be held for the first time in conjunction with the International Forecasters’ Handbook Meeting, and a separate day will be dedicated to those efforts.

We invite you to explore this website, and feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
