Phoenix is currently under high pressure, but precipitation will still lingers in the area. A strong low pressure system will begin to move into the Ross Sea Friday, causing the pressure gradient to tighten. Winds will therefore increase and remain at elevated speeds over the weekend as the low sends a trough from the south. Snow, clouds and blowing snow will keep the weather below minimums until the low moves downstream on Monday.
