A tightened trough gradient spanning from the Southern Ocean to the bottom of the Ross Ice Shelf will largely avoid causing winds at the airfield but may cause some gusts in the afternoon. Tomorrow afternoon the base of the trough progresses towards the Transantarctic Mountains and strengthens as it progresses towards station, causing elevated winds and reduced visibility in the afternoon. However, high uncertainty is currently associated with the strength of the winds. On Wednesday through Friday a very large low pressure system progresses in from the Southern Ocean, causing rapid deterioration and poor conditions throughout the forecast period.
