A large low with a strong pressure gradient taking over the Ross Sea will cause restricted visibility due to snow, mist, and blowing snow throughout the day. Expect high bouts of wind to cause periodic drops of low visibility. Due to the positioning, winds will likely be higher in town than at the airfield with winds being most intense in the afternoon and evening. Tomorrow morning the low should begin to pull away, dropping the wind speeds in the early morning. As the low pulls out of the Ross Sea, another strong trough stretches from the Southern Ocean to the Ross Ice Shelf, strengthening its pressure gradient between the terrain. As the trough expands, it breaks off into a low and tracks towards Western Antarctica.
