Today a trough extending from the low in the Ross Sea will propagate cloud cover and snowfall towards station while a few small systems around Ross Island contribute to cloud formation and precipitation. As the low in the Ross Sea decays, part of it will split and begin to redevelop its gradient into a smaller yet dynamic low pressure system on the ice shelf, setting the scene for deteriorating conditions tomorrow. As the low approaches, expect increasing winds in the afternoon with high sustained wind speeds throughout the weekend. Sustained drops in visibility due to snow and blowing snow are expected.
