Forecast discussion: Satellite imagery shows high pressure to the south of Ross Island blocking a Ross Sea low moving towards Cape Colbeck with low clouds

damming up against the mountains to the west of Ross Island. The flow around the high will bring in gusty easterly winds with frigid temps

and wind chills today but weaken through tonight and tomorrow. The extended outlook shows easterly winds with periods of low ceilings and visibility

due to light snow and fog and continuing to trend colder, -36C on Wednesday and Thursday, as the high remains somewhat stationary and

the low stays to our east over the Ross Ice Shelf through Wednesday (18 Mar). First look at Thursday (19 Mar) reveals a lee-side low forming to

the north of Ross Island bringing in low ceilings and more light snow in the afternoon.
