Forecast discussion: High pressure with westerly winds coming off of the plateau and glacial outflow are helping to keep a Ross Sea low and associated

trough confined to the eastern Ross Ice Shelf. Expect periods of low ceilings and fog developing on the ice shelf this afternoon through mid-morning

tomorrow (18 March). Thursday (19 March) looks mostly favorable with light winds but still the potential for fog forming out at the airfield. On

Friday (20 March) a strong winter storm is indicated as a another Ross Sea low dips southward, northeast of Ross Island, bringing gusts from the south

up to 59 knots by mid-morning with winds shifting to the southwest and conditions persisting as a trough rotates around the low on Saturday (21 Mar).
