A low pressure system enters the upper half of the Ross Sea and progresses along the coast of Western Antarctica. The associated trough tilts towards station, causing possible light snow and occasional wind gusts on the shelf later today. A cold pool of air resides over Phoenix this morning, though it should not remain all day as warmer air is mixed in from the trough. On Thursday low pressure develops on the boarder of the Ross Sea and Ross Ice Shelf to the East of station. Due to its position, the forecast for Thursday and Friday is highly uncertain and should be considered as a worst-case scenario; even a slight shift to the East could cause the associated winds to abate to light and variable.
